CONSULTING Engineers South Africa (CESA) is hosting its annual Infrastructure Indaba on 6 and 7 March at the Durban International Convention Centre.
According to the organization, the annual event aims to foster partnerships between government and the private sector, particularly the engineering sector, and assist with service delivery through cooperation and the development of common goals.
This year’s speaker line-up features engineers, lawyers, economists, government officials and other leaders in in key industries. The list includes Industry Insight’s David Metelerkamp and LNP Attorneys Director, Ricardo Pillay discussing the ‘Drive for Infrastructure Investment’. Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Political Studies at the University of the Western Cape, Dr Steven Kuo will present ‘Political Risk Analysis in the African Context’.
Aurecon’s Elekanyani Ndlovu and Sibu Mvana will be joined by Umgeni Water general manager of operations, Msizi Cele in discussing the topic on ‘Water and Energy Security – Role of Clients and Consulting Engineers’. The University of Fort Hare’s Professor Willie Tafadzwa Chinyamurindi will be joined by CESA Aon Awards Young Engineer of the Year, Shamiso Kumbirai to discuss the topic on the ‘Transformation Journey Beyond the Scorecard’.
The second day of the Indaba will have South African National Roads Agency’s Dumisani Nkabinde discussing ‘KwaZulu-Natal Infrastructure Development’. CESA Young Professionals Forum chairperson, Amanda Masondo-Mkhize will discuss the topic ‘Collaboration: Professionalism of the Engineering Sector’. Bosch Project’s Jeshika Ramchund will join Gibb’s Gideon Pogrund in discussing ‘Ethical Leadership’.
In an interview on the sidelines of the CESA Presidential Media breakfast recently, CESA Chief Executive Officer, Chris Campbell encouraged stakeholders from government, the built environment and other key sectors to attend this important event. “We hope through our Indaba to try and glean information and also encourage appetite for infrastructure investment locally,” he said.
