NEW Germany-based Rigger Training Academy (RTA), which specialises in rigging and machine moving industry-related qualifications, has already had over 300 trainees on various courses, despite only opening in January 2018.
According to Manager Zama Mshengu, this is a huge accomplishment on its own, but the company has also recently been accredited as an official Trade Test centre by MERSETA, TETA, NAMB, GCTO and SAGA in record-breaking time.
“The training is driven by industry, backed by 28 years of rigger industry knowledge. Our learners can be confident in the fact that the knowledge they are receiving is current and applicable to industry required quality standards,” Mshengu said.
“Our Training programs are offered in such a way that they are able to provide multiple ways of entry for learning that will culminate in a certificate of competence or a nationally recognised qualification.”
She said rigging was a scarce skill in South Africa which had largely been overlooked but was an integral support service within a broader engineering environment and across a variety of industry sectors. These included manufacturing and engineering, chemicals and petrochemicals, mining, transport, civil engineering and construction.
