A major trenching and loading contract has seen plant-hire company Mpeke Plant Hire acquire its latest batch of equipment from Bobcat Cape Town.
Mpeke Plant Hire started off in 2014 as an enterprise development initiative. However, since 2017 it started renting out machines throughout the Western Cape to all market segments. Today it is a flourishing independent plant-hire company, aiming to become the preferred plant-hire company in the region.
Bobcat Cape Town has been instrumental to the company’s growth, enjoying a successful two-year relationship to date. The latest order has seen Mpeke acquire three Bobcat B730 backhoe loaders and a Bobcat S550 skidsteer loader.
In addition to the equipment supplied, Bobcat is also responsible for all of Mpeke’s maintenance requirements. “We supply 24/7 service support due to the fact that some of the machines work on night shift,” Bobcat Cape Town Sales Consultant Christo Swart said. He added that that 500-hour service intervals are a distinguishing factor of the Bobcat B730 backhoe loader.
The handover is accompanied by an intense training session of three hours per machine. Accredited operator training can also be provided if needed.
Punted as a versatile ‘back-to-basics’ machine, the Bobcat B730 backhoe loader features a 100hp turbocharged engine, a standard powershift transmission, 18-inch front tyres and two-wheel steering, a superior breakout force with double loader bucket cylinders, and reduced maintenance costs due to the bolt-type cylinder head design.
