DUBE TradePort Special Economic Zone has opened its internship application window for the month of February.
The 12 to 24-month development programme is designed to hone candidates’ skills in their chosen profession. This gives graduates an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge under the guidance of experienced professionals, to prepare them for the working world.
According to a statement from the TradePort, the aim is to ensure that after the programme – having worked on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the province, including state-of-the-art facilities, advanced systems and processes – graduates will be able to add real value to the operations of prospective employers.
Now in its seventh year, Dube TradePort Corporation’s internship and in-service training programme has successfully enrolled over 150 graduates to-date, with 80% of them having secured permanent jobs with other employers.
“As Dube TradePort, we have recognized that internships can be an important tool in helping to address the skills gap within South Africa, ensuring that graduates have the opportunity to gain the prerequisite experience to become employable, which helps in tackling the issue of unemployment in an ever-changing economic environment,” the statement said.
