IN more gloomy news for Eastern Cape farmers battling the prolonged drought, the province’s combined dam levels have dropped again over the past week.
“The Eastern Cape dam levels have decreased by a fraction from 58,6% to 58,0%,” said Department of Water and Sanitation spokesman Sputnik Ratau.
“Lake Arthur decreased from 15,0% to 14,1%; Kat Rivier increased from 82,0% to 82,4% and Nuwejaars is at 25,0%.”
He added that water levels in the Algoa Water Supply System fell from 51,2% to 50,4%.
“The Kouga dam decreased from 51,6% to 50,7%; the Loerie decreased from 47,7% to 44,5% and Impofu decreased from 34,4% to 33,7%.”
