LIBERTY Midlands Mall, owned by Liberty Two Degrees and Liberty Group Limited, recently announced that it is launching a new phase that will expand its retail offering from 168 stores to over 200.
Phase 3 will see the popular Pietermartizburg mall grow from 56,000m2, to 78,000m2 of retail and leisure space.
“Liberty Midlands Mall puts various ways of living at the forefront by catering to a range of differing lifestyles. With the introduction of our newest retail section, Phase 3, we have strengthened our position in the area”, said Brian Unsted, Asset Management Executive for Liberty Midlands Mall at Liberty Two Degrees.
A new alfresco-style piazza will include the likes of restaurants RocoMamas, Mozambiq, and The Daily Coffee Café. The centre will be anchored by a new Checkers store. A substantially bigger Woolworths store will provide both a larger food component for shoppers and an additional textiles offering.
The mall has also introduced an array of home décor and furniture stores for the pleasure home-makers. The likes of Mattress King and Leather Gallery have taken their posts in the mall’s new retail phase while @Home Livingspace, Coricraft, Rochester and Volpes are welcomed as new additions to the Pietermaritzburg community.
The new retail space’s second anchor tenant is Planet Fitness, while new attractions for kids will include a Toy Kingdom Build-A-Bear.
Fashion outlets Pick ‘n Pay Clothing, Tekkie Town and The Hub have also joined the Liberty Midlands Mall tenant mix. Banking services will be provided by new Standard Bank and Capitec Bank ATMs.
Other outlets coming to the mall include Pizza Hut, Cell Plus, Crazy Store, Checkers Liquor, Gadget Paradise, Midlands Laser Clinic, Just Plastics, Bargain Books, Absolute Pets and Arthur Ford.
“The idea was to create a totally different feel at Midlands Mall. We wanted to design a retail space that still enhances the existing mall but offers the shopper a totally new experience,” said Unsted.
