IN the same week as the world marked International Women’s Day on 8 March, the Coega Development Corporation (CDC) learnt that one of its women board members had been appointed to the State Capture Commission.
Advocate Thandi Norman has been associated with the corporation since 2014. She is currently serving on both the Human Resources and Remuneration Committee as well as the Social and Ethics Committee.
“Nothing gives us greater joy as the CDC to be celebrating the appointment of one of our board members to such an important role. For the CDC her appointment is an endorsement in the quality of board members,” said Simlindele Manqina, the corporation’s strategic communications and stakeholder relations manager.
Manqina added that gender parity and equality play a significant role at the CDC, “providing an environment that is conducive for organisational success, growth and responsive to workplace dynamics”.
The organisation has appointed black females at senior level management as well as board level. It currently has 215 female staff members, with eight of them in senior positions.
